i saw a jw literature cart, and two dubs standing behind it this weekend.
they set up at a popular well attended event in a small town that brings thousands of people from around the country.
even though i've been out and away from jws for some time, and no longer identify as one of them, and the people i was with had no clue, it was a bit embarrassing to see the cart and cult zombies with it.

he had a human father.. all those doctrines of redemption, ransom and forgiveness come to nothing in the face of reality.
we need to look after each other..
cofty, "I'm not convinced he even existed."
Religions like Christianity don't spontaneously create themselves but are started by a charismatic figure who forms a nucleus for a new movement. Then when the leader dies his followers shape the religion into whatever form they want even deifying their founder.
Why should Christianity be any different than Islam started by Mohammed or Zoroastrianism started by Zarathustra?

nicolaou, "If Jesus couldn't even be honest about who he was what moral authority can be ascribed to him?"
Maybe he wasn't told what his parentage was.
it's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.
wathehadas, "I know injustice happens sometimes and there is racial profiling."
No, it is not sometimes, it is all the time. Trying to understate the situation by giving the "some are bad apples but the majority..." excuse is not going to fool those who are at the wrong end of a baton.
according to this article, a recent pew research concluded that until 2050, an estimated cumulative net number of 65.050.000 will opt out of the christian faith, and the trend is accelerating.
on the other hand, the "unaffiliated" will have a net growth of 61.490.000.. eden.

among catholics, 61% of whites and 60% of hispanics support gay weddings.. and the survey is here:.
steve2, "If 75% of JWs oppose gay marriage, wouldn't that mean 25% - not 12% - are in favor?"
Not necessarily. There could be a category of "undecided" included in the poll.

EndofMysteries,
"...it's a small number and as many have pointed out, they are resisting or something which added to it."
It is pathetic to justify murder and grievous bodily harm because someone who is being handcuffed and twitching an arm is considered to be "resisting". I posted a video were a 70+ frail man was slammed to the ground simply because the police couldn't understand him. That is a pathetic excuse to give!
It is that attitude which contributes to the rage of those who are victimized black or white.

defender of truth,
"...JW's are becoming world-famous as the most opposing group of religious people towards same sex marriage."
I don't know why you think they will become world famous (they'd wish) because it is fundamentalist Christians who are the most vocal about the issue to the point of demonization. Just check out http://www.rightwingwatch.org/ on a daily basis and you will see how obsessed these people are, seething in hatred. Their opinions are the ones that count since they are politically powerful. Jehovah's Witnesses don't even dream of politics.

adjusted knowledge,
"According to the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime report, Californian with the strictest gun laws in America based on the Brady scoring system , had the highest amount of gun murders in 2011."
Is that per capita or gross numbers? California is the most populous state in the US. According to the Brady ranking system that you mentioned Louisiana had 8.60 murders per 100,000, Oklahoma 3.43, and Arizona 3.32 higher than California (3.21) and that doesn't count a lot of states.

Simon,
It’s been legal to kill a black man in this country
"That is why pieces like this fail to resonate with the majority who become disengaged and unwilling to listen to what may be valid complaints. Everyone knows that is a ridiculous and untrue statement that is pure hyperbole."
It's been legal for police to kill, paralyze or brain damage almost anyone black or white.
"Getting the vote was THE most important achievement and now too many don't use it. Why not?"
They're demoralized. They turned up in large numbers and voted for Obama. Now what do they have to show for it?
